Scroll down for our super home-made play dough recipe!
Living here in Southern California, without distinct seasons, can be a real bummer sometimes, so we create our own seasonal fun! The preschoolers enjoy raking artificial leaves with child sized rakes (a skill rarely practiced in a land where the leaves never fall off the trees).
Flour and sifters
The children love to pour and measure just about anything, but with flour we add the fun of using sifters. It's messy, but we provide little wisk brooms and dust pans so that any little spills are quickly cleaned away (and they love brushing the flour off of each other)!
Preschool Playdough recipe
4 cups water 4-51/2 cups flour
1 Tbs oil 1 box salt
1 Tbs cream of tartar food coloring
In microwave heat 4 cups water for 15 minutes. In large bowl mix 4 cups flour, salt and cream of tartar. When water is done add oil and food coloring. Slowly mix into flour mixture until dough forms. Flour tabletop and kneed dough while adding more flour (about 1-1 1/2 cups) until soft and pliable. Store dough in a gallon zip lock bag. Refrigerate when not in use to extend its "fun" life
